Oblong.

I love the soul behind this company. But, the round strap that runs through the toes needs to be oblong. That would take care of the knuckle driving into the side of my toe. Anyhow, I'm not quitting yet. Thanks OKABASHI.

Skeptic Converted

When I first heard about these shoes I was pretty skeptical. Massaging insole and ergonomic foot-bed for 20 bucks?

But after biting the bullet and putting on a pair, I'm a believer. They literally feel like you're getting a massage as you're walking. I'm not sure how they get these shoes made in America for so cheap, but at the $20 price point the Surf is a steal.

I bought my son a pair of these last spring. He loved them and wore them all the time. They are light-weight and comfortable. Only they aren't puppy proof. A friend's puppy ate the strap off of one of them, so I will be buying him a new pair soon. In SC we wear sandals all year long.

Hubby even loves them.

I bought these for my hubby who insists on buying horribly made cheap flip flops. However, I was able to convince him based on the warranty and the fact they are recyclable. He wears the black ones everywhere. I can not wait to get him some slip on ones, for when we go camping. He says they are very comfortable and he compared them to his professionally fit insoles for his running shoes. Wonderfully made, will buy more! Thanks.

Love my Okabashis, but what's with the nineteen seventies limit of colors for men? I'd love to have some blue, red, white, green etc sandals. It's the 21st century, men can wear colors now and not have to worry about some 'social stigma.' We've progressed from creatures of mere function to enjoying fashion, have we not? Who's with me!?

A warning right off: Okabashi sandals run small and are average width (maybe even on the narrow side). This is true for both men and women models. Be sure you use the size measurement chart. If close to max end of the range, without hesitation, go to next bigger size.

Living in a beach community in SoCal, I wear sandals 98% of the time, all year 'round, everywhere. After three pair of Tevas, I found I liked Chacos better. Currently have about 6 pair of Chacos and one pair of Olukai. That is to say: I have a lot of sandal-wearing experience.

I consider the Surfs a nice pair of casual flip-flops, but not a sport sandal, not one for all day walking (as I do with Chocos). I have a D width foot and find the footbed a tad narrow. (My GF finds them a bit narrow for her average width) Straps are slightly too tight and leave indentations in my skin. I'm hoping they'll loosen up a bit with use and time in the sun. The footbed has a very nice shape and is grippy. Tight straps are not necessary.

Excellent. Durable and stable. No smell

I wear sandals 8 months of the year and go through sandals at least 2 per season. And I wear them till they break. I've had Okabashi Surfs since early spring and I have ABUSED them.

I just took them to puerto rico and walked about 15 beaches and hiked 2 hours on strenuous trails in the rainforest. They look nearly new. There was no risk of breaking the toe strap even under heavy pressure.

I also usually have terrible foot odor. Gross but true. My sandals are normally disgusting. These don't hold odor whatsoever. And they are SUPER comfortable for me (gave them to my brother in law and he didn't care for them - but I think they may have been too small). Probably the most comfortable sandal I've ever had. For $9.99 at CVS they are definitely worth way more than that.

Slip Resistance is a plus. I used them on slippery rocks in the rainforest and they definitely helped.

and AMERICAN MADE!!

Great Foot Bed need to get used.

I really love the look and feel of the foot bed. It is better than any sport shoe I have worn. It is impressive. However, in my shoes the rubber strap that attaches the sole to the strap that goes between your big toe has a cast ridge where the rubber was cast and a lip was created and not filed down. As a result the strap tears into the soft skin between my toe. Granted it has been a while since I wore flip flops like this but I have worn several nylon strap version that were never so uncomfortable and over time became extremely soft and comfy where as this rubber will stay the same. I am going to see if I can figure something out as sending them back will cost almost as much as the shoes. I bought two other pairs with a different strap configuration and they are some of the most comfortable shoes! I would really like to see some hiking or walking shoes. Use the surf foot bed and attach a rubber or organic canvas or hemp cover like converse shoes that could be sown to the bed.

Durable, non slip sandal

I got these and the Milan to wear on a recent trip to Cabo. These feel very durable and provide excellent arch support. Additionally, they were great around the pool and wet surfaces, their grip is fabulous. No slip!

My biggest problem though was the strap in between the toes. It feels and seems unusually large and therefore created pain in between my toes and caused the skin to break away. In the end, I found myself wearing the Milan much more because they were more comfortable.

Great Flip-Flops...Buy American!

I live in Florida and wear flip flops constantly, just about everywhere I go. I have had my surf's for a year now and they're still holding up fine. Comfort is good, and they're very durable. They're worth the money and best of all...made in the USA by American workers!
