OKABASHI expands" INDIGO" line of flip flops to include three new styles
New styles reflect company’s commitment to eco-friendly and comfortable designs,
while extending reach into a younger demographic
Buford, Ga. – April 22, 2014 – Okabashi, a family-owned shoe designer and manufacturer, today announced the expansion of its popular “Indigo” line of flip-flops. Remaining true to the brand’s core values, the line is eco-friendly, fashionable and emphasizes full-body health benefits through comfort. First launched in 2013, the “Indigo” line targeted both women and men in a younger, more active demographic. The expanded line now features three additional women’s styles.
Okabashi’s sandals, flip-flops and clogs are recyclable and made from the company’s proprietary material, Microplast, which is durable, slip resistant and easy to clean. All Okabashi shoes feature an ergonomic foot-bed that provides superior arch support, a heel cup for proper alignment of the feet and spine, as well as massage beads that aid in circulation. Like all other Okabashi shoes, the new “Indigo” line is vegan friendly, anti-odor, free of latex and BPA, machine washable, dishwasher safe, and backed by a two-year guarantee.
“Our main goal is to provide comfortable and fashionable shoes that promote good health to our customers, and we have done so successfully for the past 30 years,” said Kerry Cunningham, vice president of finance for Okabashi. “In 2014, we’re focusing on our younger customer base that is fun, active and cares about the environment, beginning with our recent additions to the ‘Indigo’ line.”
The original “Indigo” lineup featured Women’s Indigo Marina Flip-Flops, Women’s Indigo Ocean Flip-Flops and Men’s Indigo Flip-Flops. New additions to the line include:
- Women’s Indigo Classic Flip-Flops: Available in three color combinations of horizontal stripes, this style is based on the company’s classic design, offering a narrow foot-bed and high arch support in addition to a woven fabric strap and a 1-inch heel.
- Women’s Indigo Active Flip-Flops: Available in three color combinations of vertical stripes, this style features a woven fabric strap with a soft, neoprene backing and a 1-inch heel.
- Women’s Indigo Sport Flip-Flops: Available in three, dual-tone color combinations, this style features a woven fabric strap with a waterproof Microplast backing and a 1-inch heel.
“The entire ‘Indigo’ line is well designed and comfortable to support our younger consumers’ more active lifestyles,” said Jonathan Spoerke, director of design and innovation for Okabashi. “The new additions really complement the original styles, featuring bright color schemes and patterns that are on trend in the fashion industry today – perfect for the generation that wants to look good and feel good.”
Headquartered in Buford, Ga., Okabashi’s entire collection is made in full in the United States. Designing, manufacturing and selling the shoes domestically results in a reduced carbon footprint, provides jobs and financial growth to the local economy, and encourages the adoption of an active and healthy lifestyle for consumers. Okabashi’s manufacturing process is virtually waste-free, and the company offers a post-consumer recycling program that invites customers to return their well-loved and worn Okabashi shoes to its factory for recycling and, in turn, customers receive a discount on their next purchase.
“Like our slogan says, we want to give our customers ‘more than a shoe,’” Cunningham said. “Our brand is about encouraging people to have pride in our country and take care of our environment. This is something that we believe everyone – no matter their age – can get behind.”
Okabashi shoes can be purchased online and at participating CVS, Walmart, Walgreens and Whole Foods stores. To learn more about Okabashi and its complete collection, call 1.800.443.6573 or visit www.okabashi.com.
