Having produced over 40 million pairs of shoes since our opening in 1984, Okabashi Brands is proud to be among the remaining 1% of footwear manufactued in the USA.

We manufacture quality footwear for our three in-house brands, and we partner with some of the world's largest and most exclusive and sought-after brands for contract manufacturing.

Machine Operator

Reports To: 
Shift Supervisor

 

Summary:

Responsibly operate Mold Machine producing product that meets customer expectations. 

 

Essential Functions:

- Skilled at spraying mold release in high temperature molds to avoid sticking, wipe any excess of mold release and plastic found in the mold’s vents to achieve good parts.

- Understands the customer product tolerances to produce quality products.

- Ability to identify defective product as it comes out of machine and communicate frequently with lead and supervisor.

- Abides by all OSHA Health Safety requirements; wears department specific PPE: safety glasses, gloves, ear protection flame resistant shirt or sleeves, and mask.

- Practices good housekeeping and assures work area is clean, free of clutter and in good order throughout the shift.

 

Skills and Qualifications/Physical Demands:

- Ability to read, write and speak basic English is required (bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred)

- Basic understanding of mathematics (addition, subtraction) is required

- Experience working in a Warehouse/Manufacturing department is required (experience in plastics manufacturing is preferred)

- Basic understanding and experience in using a PC is required

- Ability to work in face paced environment efficiently

- Regularly (2/3 to full shift) required to stand and walk, use hands to handle or feel, talk or hear

- Occasionally (up to 1/3 of shift) required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

- Occasionally (up to 1/3 of day) lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

- Regularly (2/3 to full shift) work in an environment with a fluctuating noise level ranging from 70 to 90 decibels (wearing protection provided/required)

Production Finisher

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Summary:
The Production Finisher provides visual inspection of product and is responsible to trim and de-flash product to meet customer expectations. This position is the “final touch” in the manufacturing process and is critical to ensure quality of product.

Essential Functions:
- Ability to use hand tools such as scissors and hot knife to trim and burn flash from product.
- Clean product using provided cleaning solution.
- Abides by all OSHA Health and Safety requirements; wears department/company specific PPE.
- Inspects products for defects to assure product meets customer specifications.
- Communicate frequently with the Lead to check the quality of his/her work and report any defects they find.
- Keep work area clean, free of clutter and organized; clean and disinfect tools.
- Place shoes on racks according to size.


Skills and Qualifications/Physical Demands:
- Ability to read, write and speak basic English is required (bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred)
- Basic understanding of mathematics (addition, subtraction) is required
- Good hand/eye dexterity; excellent attention to detail
- Basic understanding and experience in using a PC/Android tablet is required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Regularly (2/3 to full shift) required to stand and walk, use hands to handle or feel, talk or hear
- Occasionally (up to 1/3 of shift) required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally (up to 1/3 of day) lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

2nd Shift Supervisor

Summary:
Responsible for leading shift operations in a manufacturing environment to ensure safety, production, and quality standards are achieved, while developing the skills of the team.


Essential Functions:
- Direct a team of process operators and support staff to achieve daily manufacturing objectives.
- Ensure that all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures are properly implemented and followed.
- Achieve quality and production output requirements.
- Support a program of continuous improvement consistent with company business objectives
- Support the implementation of new products and processes.
- Provide coaching and training as required to develop the skills of the team.
- Ensure the production schedule is being followed using correct raw materials.
- Accurately complete all administrative paperwork.
- Ensure the team maintains good housekeeping practices.
- Ensure the team has the necessary supplies to complete assigned job duties.
- Ensure production equipment is operating within correct machine parameters.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.


Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write and speak basic English is required (bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred)

- Previous experience working in a supervisory role in manufacturing is required.
- Experience with injection molding is desired.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail required.
- Previous track record of coaching and team building required.
- Experience with implementing or sustaining lean manufacturing practices is desired.
- Good problem-solving skills with demonstrated mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office programs required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that involves standing and walking throughout an 8-hour shift.

Pay starting at $16.50/hour, depending on role.

Currently we are only looking to fill 2nd shift (3 - 11 pm) and 3rd shift (11 pm - 7 am) roles.

Ability to read, write and speak basic English is required (bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred).

Machine training will be provided for all roles.
